The RMIT Civil & Infrastructure Digital Research Team is dedicated to pioneering advancements in the construction and maintenance of essential public works through cutting-edge digital technology. Our team of experts focuses on harnessing the power of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and innovative modelling techniques to improve the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of infrastructure systems worldwide.

The Digital and Sustainable Building Lab , housed within the Department of Civil & Infrastructure at RMIT University, is an integral part of our efforts to spearhead the digital transformation of the construction and infrastructure industries. Under the stewardship of our dedicated team, the lab focuses on leveraging state-of-the-art technologies such as extended reality, advanced sensors, high-performance computing, and robotics to revolutionize building practices. Our work primarily aims to enhance the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of infrastructure systems globally, contributing to the fourth revolution in the construction industry, known as Construction 4.0. This lab not only supports ground breaking research but also enriches the educational experience by integrating these technologies into RMIT’s Building Information Modelling course for the Bachelor of Engineering program, preparing students to address the complex challenges of modern cities and environmental concerns through digital innovation.

Additionally, we run the OENG1191 Building Information Modelling course as part of RMIT’s Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Infrastructure) program. This course integrates direct experiences from our lab, giving students the opportunity to engage with real-world technologies and methodologies that are transforming the infrastructure sector.
